Call for scholarships application in health science undergraduate programmes

Mount Kigali University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, in the framework of supporting the 4X4 strategy initiative of the government of Rwanda, is excited to announce a funded scholarship opportunity (Tuition Fees only ) for the following two health-related programs indicated below: Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Science(4years) and Bachelor of Dental Therapy (4years).

Application Period : From  6th May 2026 to 15th May 2026

Eligibility Criteria:

Completed general secondary education with one of the following principal subjects: Physics, Chemistry-Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry -Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and the Associate Nursing Program. Additionally, the candidates should meet the Minimum requirements per the Higher Education Council of Rwanda (HEC) and Institutional requirements.

Admission Test and Selection Process 

  1. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements as mentioned above will sit for an admission test scheduled  on Monday, 18th May 2026 
  2. Final selection of the scholarship beneficiaries will be based on the admission score 

Note

  1. Final selected students to benefit the scholarship will sign a contract with MoH to ensure their absorption  into the health care system after their graduation, for which they will be required to serve a designated  period of time refund and there is no binding contract 
  1. Students currently receiving another government scholarship or those who have graduated from other universities are not eligible for this scholarship. Any violation of these application requirements  will result in immediate disqualification upon discovery, with potential additional sanctions depending  on the level of violation  

APPLICATION PROCESS: 

  1. Have your High school Certificate, ID scanned in your phone (use Camscanner app). Take a passport photo size with your phone or find someone to take you a passport-size photo. 
  2. Store the three items (High school Certificate, ID and Photo) in your phone and send them to your WhatsApp in order to access them on your desktop/laptop. Or send the items to your email for you to download them. 
  3. Visit https://admission.mkur.ac.rw to create an application account on the UNIRP system (N.B: you should have an active Gmail account for you to create an application on the UNIRP system. 
  1. Fill in your full name in correct order, select your country of origin, and then enter your valid Google Mail (Gmail). N.B: Before you proceed, click on Send OTP to verify after you have entered your email.
  2. Open your Gmail account to check the email with the OTP of 4 digits. If you can find it in your inbox folder, check the SPAM folder of your email, copy it and paste it in the Email OTP message box 
  3. After pasting it, click Verify email. The confirmation message will appear shortly on your screen. 
  4. After you have verified your email, enter your mobile phone number. 
  5. Create the password for your application account (Example: Application@123).
  6. Select the province and your district. Then tick the checkbox (i.e. I’m not a robot)
  7. After all, click the Register Button. 

The system will automatically take you to the login page, which has the following form:

  1. Insert/enter the Gmail you have used to create an application account
  2. Enter the password and click the login button.
  3. The system will take you to the application interface, where all the programmes are displayed 
  4. Click on All and select undergraduate to see all bachelor’s courses
  5. In the search course box, write: Dental therapy or Medical Laboratory Sciences, the programs will appear immediately and click on the Apply Button 

N.B: In the Address Line 1* textbox, Indicate/Put the words: APP-Dental Therapy or APP-Medical laboratory Sciences 

Remember to note your application number down somewhere; it is located on the upper side of your application form. 

If you fail to make an application, visit the admission office in Kicukiro, Gatenga, for support, and remember to bring the physical file of your documents to the customer-care centre of the university.
