1 Immunology and Virology Lecturer
Reports To: Dean School of Health Science
Job Summary
The Immunology and Virology Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, research, and academic mentorship in the fields of immunology and virology. The role involves developing course content, conducting lectures and practical sessions, supervising student research, and contributing to the institution’s research and academic development goals.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate lectures in immunology and virology.
- Develop and update course materials, including lecture notes, presentations, and laboratory manuals.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions and ensure proper use of laboratory equipment.
- Assess student performance through exams, assignments, and practical evaluations.
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students.
Research and Scholarly Activities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in immunology, microbiology , virology, or related fields.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Apply for research funding and grants.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
Curriculum Development
- Participate in curriculum design and review to ensure relevance and quality.
- Integrate modern teaching methods and technologies into course delivery.
Administrative Duties
- Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees.
- Contribute to institutional activities such as seminars, workshops, and outreach programs.
- Assist in student recruitment and academic advising.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Immunology, immunology and microbiology or Immunology and Virology
- Candidate should at least have 3 publications, published in reputable journals
- Prior teaching experience at a university or college level is an advantage.
- Strong background in laboratory techniques (e.g., ELISA, PCR, cell culture).
- Demonstrated research experience with publications preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
2 Clinical Chemistry Lecturer
Reports To: Dean School of Health Sciences
Job Summary
To deliver high-quality teaching, training, and academic support in clinical chemistry, while contributing to research, curriculum development, and student mentorship within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in clinical chemistry and related subjects
- Develop and update course materials, including lesson plans, laboratory manuals, and assessments
- Facilitate student-centered learning using modern teaching methods and technologies
- Supervise laboratory practicals and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
- Design, administer, and grade examinations, assignments, and practical assessments
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students
- Participate in academic evaluations and moderation processes
Research and Scholarship
- Conduct research in clinical chemistry or related fields
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Apply for research funding and collaborate with other researchers
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
- The candidate should have at least 2 publications in reputable journals
- Professional certification in medical laboratory sciences
- Teaching experience in a higher education institution is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and quality control
- Research experience and publication record (preferred for senior roles)
