Mount Kigali University officially welcomed newly admitted students who will be beginning their studies in the May 2026 intake. During the Student Orientation Programme, held from 5th to 9th May, the Vice Chancellor, Dr Martin Kimemia, encouraged students to embrace discipline, integrity, and academic excellence as they begin their university journey.
The new students will be joining more than 30 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered across various schools and faculties, including Health Sciences, Education, Law, Business and Economics, Journalism and Communication, Information Technology, and Hospitality and Tourism.
Dr Kimemia described higher education as more than the pursuit of certificates, emphasizing that university education should shape character, leadership, innovation, and the ability to transform society.
“Today marks the beginning of a defining chapter in your lives,” he told students. “Your success will depend on discipline, consistency, focus, and personal responsibility.”

The Vice Chancellor encouraged students to actively participate in lectures, research, innovation, and leadership opportunities while making responsible use of technology and maintaining strong moral values. He also reminded students that Mount Kigali University maintains zero tolerance for examination malpractice, harassment, drug abuse, plagiarism, and other forms of misconduct.
During his address, Dr Kimemia urged students to prepare early for their future careers through internships, networking, entrepreneurship, and practical skill development, noting that the modern job market requires graduates who are adaptable, creative, and solution-oriented.

He further reassured students that the university has established support systems, including academic advisors, counselling services, mentorship programs, and student affairs offices to help learners succeed both academically and personally.
