Mount Kigali University (MKUR) has taken another significant step towards enhancing academic excellence and improving service delivery through a sensitization training on the University Integrated Resource Planning (UniRP) System held on 16th June 2026 for academic leaders. The training, which brought together Deans, Heads of Departments, and other academic leaders, is part of the University’s broader commitment to digital transformation, operational efficiency, and student-centered service delivery.

Opening the training on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. John Nyiligira, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration, underscored the importance of embracing technology-driven solutions to strengthen academic processes and improve the overall student experience. The UniRP system introduces a fully automated application process that will transform how students interact with the University. Prospective students will now be able to view complete curriculum structures and module information at the point of application, enabling them to make informed academic decisions from the outset.

One of the most notable improvements is the digitalization of the credit transfer application process. Unlike the previous manual system, students seeking credit transfers will be able to submit applications online, upload supporting documents, and receive automated updates throughout the approval process. This innovation is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness. The system will also streamline academic planning and management through automated scheduling of classes and integration of critical academic information, including syllabus content, theory and practical hours, assessment weightings, and learning resources. This will ensure consistency, accuracy, and effective academic delivery across the University.

In the area of assessments and examinations, the UniRP system will provide students with online access to continuous assessment results before end-of-module examinations. Examination timetables will be automatically generated, while students will be able to produce their own examination clearance cards. Additionally, academic leaders will have access to real-time reports and analytics, enabling informed decision-making and enhanced academic oversight. During the training, academic leaders were sensitized on their critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of the system. Their active participation and commitment will be instrumental in driving adoption and maximizing the benefits of the new platform across the University.
