Message from the Vice-Chancellor
Building a University Worthy of Its Promise
Welcome to Mount Kigali University, an institution I am proud to lead and deeply honoured to serve.
When I accepted the appointment as Vice-Chancellor, I did so with a clear sense of what this university represents: not merely an institution that confers degrees, but one that is actively shaping the intellectual, professional, and ethical foundations of Rwanda’s future. That is a weighty responsibility, and one that energises me every day.
My vision for MKUR is built on three convictions. First, that academic quality and graduate employability are not competing priorities, they reinforce each other. Second, that a university’s strength lies ultimately in its people: its faculty, its students, and the communities they come from and return to. Third, that an institution must be honest about where it stands, bold about where it is going, and disciplined about how it gets there.
In practical terms, this means a relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning; deepening our partnerships with employers, hospitals, government, and civil society; and building a campus culture where curiosity, integrity, and excellence are not aspirations but habits.
To prospective students, I say this: Mount Kigali University is a place where your ambition will be met with resources, guidance, and genuine investment in your success. We are not a university that simply processes students, we are one that transforms them.
To our staff, partners, and stakeholders: I invite your continued confidence, your honest engagement, and your partnership in building an institution that East Africa will be proud of.
