About Our Institution
Mount Kigali University is an institution of higher learning offering quality international education in Rwanda. It was previously a Campus of Mount Kenya University, until April 2023 when it gained full autonomy. Located in Gatenga sector, Kicukiro District, Kigali, Mount Kigali University is one of Rwanda’s top private universities. It boasts of a diverse international faculty, unmatched learning infrastructure, and highly-competitive graduates. The University owns Kigali Paramount Hotel, a four-star establishment within its precincts. The Hotel offers practical training to students from the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. It also owns Royal F.M, a commercial radio station which also offers hands-on training to students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Mount Kigali University was founded by renowned Kenyan educationalist Prof. Simon N. Gicharu.

The Land of a Thousand Hills
Only two decades ago, Rwanda,a small, land-locked country in Central Africa was the epicentre of one of the worst pogroms in human history. Over 800,000 people were killed in a three month orgy of violence now remembered as
“Genocide Against Tustis.” Fast forward to 2014 and Rwanda is the veritable phoenix that rose from the ashes. It has become a model country not only in East Africa but the entire continent.
