A SYNOPSIS FOR BUSINESS PROGRAMMES OF MOUNT KIGALI UNIVERSITY

This synopsis narrates the summary programmes for Mount Kigali University School of
Business and Economics. The School of Business and Economics has started with five
programs that are running now.

  1. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (With options in Strategic management, Human resource management, Accounting, Finance, Logistics & Supplies, Project management, Marketing)
    The Master of Business Administration program (with options) was developed in line with
    the Rwanda Qualification Frame work and approved by Higher Education Council.
    Program Highlights
    ➢ Train managers with appropriate knowledge and competence in efficient and effective planning, development and strategic focus in dynamic economic environments
    ➢ Enhance the essential knowledge, skills, competencies and tools for successful management and delivery of business goals
    ➢ Develop the ability and competence to use resources effectively to the satisfaction of customers and stakeholders in public and private firms
    ➢ Developing of strong analytic and critical thinking, knowledge, and related management skills
    ➢ Molding strong ethical principles, good interpersonal communication and team values
    Career Opportunities
    Graduates are prepared to become:
    ➢ Professional managers in the field of banking, insurance, business, health, law, education, engineering and finance

    Admission Requirements
    Academic Qualifications:
    ▪ Minimum entry requirements to the program leading to the Master of Business Administration (With options in Strategic management, Human resource management, Accounting, Finance, Logistics & Supplies, Project management, Marketing) is the Bachelor’s degree in any related discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of second-Class Honors or relevant qualifications
  2. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FINANCE
    The Master of Science in Finance was developed in line with the Rwanda Qualification Frame work
    Program Highlights
    ➢ Enhance strong finance orientation and management knowledge for successful operational performance
    ➢ Design and implementation of organization finance and related management solutions
    ➢ Developing of strong analytic and critical thinking, knowledge, and related financial management skills
    ➢ Molding strong ethical principles, good interpersonal communication and team values

Graduates are prepared to become:

Admission Requirements

Academic Qualifications:
▪ Minimum entry requirements for Master of Science in Finance are Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, with quantitative subjects like economics, finance, statistics or accounting from a recognized university with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours qualification

3. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The Master of Science in Project management was developed in line with the Rwanda Qualification Frame work
Program Highlights
➢ Developing managers who can address complex projects that are challenging to the society
➢ Provides a detailed foundation in project management concepts, methods and techniques geared towards solving general and specific projects aims and objectives
➢ Developing of strong analytic and critical thinking, knowledge, and related project management skills
➢ Contribute to the design and development of project budgeting and costing and ability to differentiate various projects based on various criteria
➢ Subject-based practical skills will teach students to define and decompose a project work using project management tools

4. BACHELOR OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (with accounting, banking, finance, international business, risk management, procurement and office administration options). The Bachelor of Business Management program (with options) was developed in line with the Rwanda Qualification Frame work and approved by Higher Education Council.

➢ In a rapidly changing business world, Bachelor of Business Management graduates should be able to make informed and rational decisions about business matters
➢ Develop the student’s understanding of the vital role of business in society and the economy
➢ Develop the key competencies of Rwandan business manager’s core values and attitudes through the fostering of such qualities as initiative, resilience, and resourcefulness and the skills of problem solving, cooperation, decision making, negotiation, and communicating

Admission Requirements:
To be admitted to the Bachelor of Business Management program, the student must have two principal passes and one subsidiary in the General paper
5. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE ECONOMICS AND STATISTICS
The Bachelor of Bachelor of Science Economics and Statistics program was developed in line with the Rwanda Qualification Frame work and approved by Higher Education Council.
Program Highlights
➢ Economic research and innovation, as well as a developing economy require skills in econometrics, data analysis, investment decision making, forecasting, risks and uncertainty assessment of the markets
➢ The need for economics and statistics will empower decision makers with requisite skills to manipulate data, make investment decisions, strategic planning and mitigate risks
➢ Changes in global economic and business trends require enormous data for decision making, policy formulation and management which the economics and statistics course meets

For Bachelors of Science in Economics and Statistics any student who has finished secondary school with background of mathematics, science and commerce can apply. Two principal passes and a subsidiary in any two subjects

The Master of Business Administration program (without options) was developed in line with the Rwanda Qualification Frame work and approved by Higher Education Council.
