Prof. Stanley Waudo
The Mount Kigali University appointed Prof. Stanley Waudo, as the Chancellor.
Prof. Stanley Waudo serves as Chancellor with a distinguished portfolio of responsibilities. As the ceremonial head of the University, he presides over convocations and confers degrees, often adorned in academic regalia during graduation ceremonies. Beyond ceremonial duties, he collaborates closely with the University’s leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives and liaises with institutional presidents to address critical policy matters.
In addition to his ceremonial role, Prof. Waudo is deeply engaged in overseeing academic programs, initiatives, and activities, ensuring they align with the University’s mission and vision.
A trailblazer in higher education, Prof. Waudo was the founding Vice-Chancellor of Mount Kenya University (MKU), Kenya. Under his exceptional leadership, MKU achieved significant milestones, including attaining a University charter.
Prof. Waudo’s academic journey is equally impressive. While pursuing his master’s and doctorate degrees in plant pathology and nematology at Iowa State University in the United States, he began his career as a graduate assistant. In 1985, he joined Kenyatta University, where he rose from lecturer to full professor, solidifying his expertise in academia before transitioning to Mount Kenya University.
Now retired from his Vice-Chancellor role, Prof. Waudo is focusing his efforts on Mount Kigali University. He is steering the institution towards global recognition, championing its mission of “Empowering Generations through Education.”
