Mount Kigali University has officially welcomed a new student leadership team for the 2025–2026 academic year during a swearing-in and handover ceremony held on Wednesday, November 5. The new Guild President, Ndizeye Christian, takes over from Nyemanzi Gloria Esther, who led the student body in 2024–2025.
During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Martin Kimemia reminded the new leaders that their mandate is to serve with integrity and ensure the students’ voices are represented. He emphasized that leadership should bring transformation rather than titles.
“You are not here by default, but because your peers believe in you,” he said. “Do not betray their confidence. Lead through service and make a positive difference in the lives of the almost 10,000 students we are entrusting to you.”
The Dean of Students, Mrs. Lucy Uwimana, also applauded the incoming leadership and encouraged them to work closely with the university administration to improve students’ welfare. She said, “Leadership is not about being above others, it is about standing with them. We expect you to be responsible, approachable, and committed to the concerns of every student.”
New Guild President Ndizeye Christian thanked students for trusting him with the role and promised to build a leadership defined by unity, accountability, and transparency.
“Leadership is not about privilege, but responsibility,” he said. “Together, we will build a vibrant and progressive student community where every student feels represented. We are collaborators with one mission — to move Mount Kigali University forward.”
Outgoing Guild President Nyemanzi Gloria Esther reflected on her year in office and expressed pride in the achievements made under her leadership.
“We listened, we acted, and we achieved,” she said. “This role has shaped us and prepared us for even greater service to society. I believe the new team will take MKUSA even further.”
The colourful ceremony concluded with the official handover, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership at Mount Kigali University.
