Dr. Ruth Thinguri is a distinguished academician, researcher, and educator, currently serving as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Research Affairs (DVCARA) at Mount Kigali University. She brings with her a wealth of experience in institutional leadership and academic excellence.
Before her tenure at Mount Kigali University, Dr. Thinguri held significant leadership roles at Mount Kenya University (MKU) from 2012 to 2024. At MKU, she served as the Dean of the School of Education in 2013 and 2015, and as the Academic Head of the School of Education in 2014. Additionally, she has a strong academic background as a Senior Lecturer in Education Leadership, Management, and Administration at Mount Kigali University.
Dr. Thinguri’s academic journey is rooted in her extensive education. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Business Education and Economics from Kenyatta University (Kenya), a Master of Education from Georgia State University (USA), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership, Management, and Administration from Capella University (USA).
An active contributor to the academic community, Dr. Thinguri has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, with over 50 articles across various fields including school leadership and administration, curriculum studies, early childhood education, special needs education, guidance and counseling, and educational communication technology. She has also co-authored five books on educational management and leadership, as well as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Dr. Thinguri has a strong record of mentoring the next generation of scholars and practitioners, having supervised over 50 postgraduate students to successful completion. She possesses vast expertise in institutional leadership, research, pedagogy, training, and aligning educational programs with the Competency-Based Curriculum framework.
Her ongoing dedication to advancing education through research, leadership, and teaching continues to shape the future of academic institutions and students alike.
