Kigali Paramount Hotel will be a regional training centre of excellence for the school of hospitality and tourism of Mount Kenya University (MKU) Rwanda which was fully accredited by the Rwandan Government and will soon be rebranded to Mount Kigali University.
The Kigali Paramount Hotel is modeled after Kenya’s Utalii College and is expected to operate under four (4) star rating. It will be one of its kind in the country and will play a big role in the training of manpower in the sector, one of Rwanda’s top exchange earners.
The hotel is set to offer a variety of services and amenities including conference & workshop facilities, concierge services, fine dining, swimming pool & jacuzzi, a high class fitness centre, limousine services and an array of special suites.
On March 2nd 2018, Eng. Aimable Rutagarama of the Rwanda Tourism Chamber visited MKUR. He was the chief guest during the unveiling of the university’s dedicated, state-of-the-art hospitality training facility. The facility consists of a restaurant, a demonstration kitchen with individual stoves, fully furnished guest rooms, executive front desk and spacious lecture rooms.
Benson Abuto, head of MKUR’s Hospitality and Tourism Department, sees the facility playing a key role in training personnel for establishments in East and Central Africa. “I see our department, backed by the hotel, performing a similar role as Kenya Utalii College: Training for the region,” he says
