Dr. Clémence Nishimwe, PhD
Dr. Clémence Nishimwe is a registered nurse, educator, researcher, and academic leader serving as the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Mount Kigali University. She also serves as an Assistant Lecturer, where she teaches and mentors nursing students, contributing to the development of competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.
She holds a PhD in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing (Community Health) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, as well as a Bachelor of Nursing in Advanced Practice, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and professional nursing qualifications.
Her teaching and academic interests include community health nursing, nursing research methods, curriculum and instruction, health services management, communicable and vector-borne diseases, nursing fundamentals, and professional ethics and legal aspects of nursing.
Dr. Nishimwe’s research focuses on maternal and newborn health, community health programme implementation, gender and reproductive health, strengthening primary healthcare systems, and health-provider knowledge and capacity. She has published research in areas including maternal and newborn healthcare, adolescent maternal health, breastfeeding, family planning, malaria awareness, and primary healthcare.
She has also contributed to academic publishing as an Associate Editor of the African Journal of AIDS Research.
