A SYNOPSIS FOR NURSING PROGRAMMES OF MOUNT KIGALI UNIVERSITY
School of Nursing was having only one program which was Bachelor of Science in Nursing, but now a school has developed new curriculums. Currently, School of Nursing is having four (4) programs which are: Bachelor of Science with honors in Nursing, Bachelor of Science with honors in Midwifery, Bachelor of Science with honors in Mental Health Nursing and Advanced Diploma in General Nursing.
Bachelor of Science with honors in Nursing
Bachelor of Science with Honors in Nursing (BScN Hons Nursing) is a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to prepare students for professional nursing practice, leadership roles, and Nursing education. The program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and clinical skills.

Admission Requirements
- Students who have successfully completed Science Subjects in secondary school (A’ level): Two principal passes in Biology & Chemistry (scored in A, B or C) and a subsidiary in either Mathematics / Physics or Geography.
- Advanced Diploma in General Nursing from a recognized institution of higher learning as per credit transfer/ exemption policy.
- Registration certificate and license from NCNM of two years in relevant working experience from date of registration.
- International students should possess a license to practice as a nurse in country of origin, prior to being licensed by NCNM.
- Upgrading students may attach letter of study permission from the employer.
Bachelor of Science with honors in Midwifery
Bachelor of Science with Honors in Midwifery (BSc. Hons Midwifery) is a specialized program designed to prepare students to provide comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. - Candidate who has a certificate in senior six with two (2) principal pass in Biology and Chemistry with score grade of A-C and subsidiary in Mathematics, Physics and Geography.
- Advanced diploma in Midwifery or General Nursing obtained from a recognized high learning institution with relevant 2 years working experience, the candidate will be awarded exemption following credit transfer policy not exceeding 49% of the total credits of the program
- A Midwifery or Nursing ongoing candidate from a recognized high learning institution, the candidate may be awarded an exemption following a credit transfer policy not exceeding 49% of the total credits of the program.
