Congratulations to all graduates

Congratulations to all graduates

Today marks a great occasion as we gather to celebrate the graduation of yet another group of bright minds from the Mount Kenya University Rwanda family.

First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Rwanda for granting us the accreditation that led to the change of our esteemed institution’s name to Mount Kigali University. This positions us as the first cross-border campus to receive such recognition in Rwanda. It also reflects our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing education with an international touch.

Moreover, Rwandan students will now have the privilege to graduate from MKU within their home country by the end of this year. As we embark on this new phase in our journey, I assure you that our dedication to academic excellence remains unwavering. Our university will continue to offer the same diverse range of programmes while fostering a nurturing environment that encourages both intellectual

and personal growth.

We understand that education is not solely confined to lecture halls and textbooks. In line with our

commitment to uplift our academic standards, we will be venturing into the realm of short courses,

facilitating hands-on training to equip our students with practical skills that will make them more

competitive in the job market.

Furthermore, we recognise the significance of building strong partnerships and collaborations. We will

continue to work closely with Mount Kenya University to enhance our capacity and enrich the overall

educational experience for our students.

At Mount Kigali University, we strongly believe in nurturing a culture of responsibility and discipline among our students. To this end, we will set aside funds to sensitise our students on the importance of completing their studies on time, ensuring they can fully embrace their roles as future leaders and contributors to society’s growth.

Research and innovation are the cornerstones of progress, and we are committed to empowering our students with the necessary tools and resources to address societal needs effectively. We will focus on strengthening research methods and capacity for data analysis, equipping our graduates with the skills to make a positive impact on our society’s challenges.

The upcoming Kigali Paramount Hotel and the university’s health centre are exciting additions that will

significantly enrich our academic offerings. The School of Hospitality and Tourism Training will find a perfect partner in the hotel, while the health centre will not only contribute to medical care of the general public, but also play a vital role in providing hands-on training to our medical students. Lastly, we shall continue giving back to the community and promoting corporate social responsibility.

We shall continue with our meaningful collaborations with esteemed partners such as the Imbuto Foundation, Kicukiro District, schools, hospitals, the Higher Education Council (HEC), New Life Ministries, and One Cow Per Family (Girinka), among many others, thereby making a positive impact on the lives of

those around us.

To our graduates, I offer my heartfelt congratulations on reaching this milestone. Your achievements fill us with pride, and we have the utmost confidence in your ability to succeed in all your future endeavours. As we move forward together, let us embrace change, uphold academic excellence, and work tirelessly to create a better future for Rwanda and the world at large. Congratulations, once again.
