The Institute of Capacity Building (ICB) is a premier knowledge-generating and disseminating institute under Mount Kigali University Rwanda (MKUR). Established as a registered corporate entity under the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), ICB has been serving the region for over a decade.
ICB advances scholarship, applied research, and knowledge dissemination across the region through professional courses and training, language and professional studies, hospitality and tourism training, consultancy services, business incubation, and enterprise solutions — delivered through three specialised Centres of Excellence.

ICB Overview
Centre of Excellence in Applied Research, Consultancy and Enterprise Services (CEARCE)
Applied Research, Consultancy & Enterprise Services
- Leads grant writing, consultancy development, and enterprise initiatives, working with departments and schools to mobilise specialised expertise.
- Supports University resource mobilisation by diversifying income streams and complementing traditional revenue sources.
- Promotes collaboration within and outside the University, including partnerships with business organisations, government institutions, private sector actors, and other universities.
- Undertakes value-chain analyses and enterprise development initiatives to identify innovative, efficient, and market-responsive approaches to University operations and income generation.

Centre for Languages and Professional Studies (CLPS)
Languages and Professional Studies
- Offers refresher, professional, and short courses across the University’s areas of specialty, plus other market-driven courses addressing identified skills and knowledge gaps.
- Works closely with the University’s departments, schools, and relevant units to mobilise expertise and deliver market-responsive programmes.

Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
- Offers market-relevant courses in hospitality, travel, and tourism.
- Training is hosted at Paramount Hotel, drawing trainers from Mount Kigali University faculty and industry practitioners.
- Provides refresher and practice-oriented programmes, including in-situ training conducted within hotels — in Kigali and, where feasible, other cities.
