Mount Kigali University (MKU) welcomed its September 2026 intake through a week-long student orientation programme held from 7–12 September 2026, designed to give new students a confident and inspiring start to their university journey. More than an introduction to university procedures, the orientation provided students with an opportunity to understand the MKU experience, connect with the University community and discover the opportunities available to them as they begin their studies at a modern, diverse and forward-looking institution. MKU brings together students from a growing international community and offers programmes across six specialised schools.
The programme gave students the opportunity to interact directly with their Deans, lecturers and academic teams, helping them understand their respective programmes, academic expectations and the support available throughout their studies. Management also addressed the new students, with speeches from members of the University’s leadership providing guidance, encouragement and a clear message about the importance of academic excellence, discipline, innovation, professionalism and personal growth. These engagements created an important first connection between students and the people who will support, mentor and guide them throughout their MKU journey.
Orientation also took students beyond the classroom through guided tours of the University’s facilities, allowing them to experience first-hand the learning environment they are now part of. From modern learning spaces and specialised laboratories to technology and innovation facilities, student services and other university amenities, the tours helped students appreciate the resources available to support both academic and personal development. With facilities including specialised health sciences infrastructure, technology-enabled learning environments and the on-campus Kigali Paramount Hotel, MKU’s campus is designed to connect learning with practical, real-world experience.
For MKU’s international students, the orientation provided a special opportunity to feel at home, connect with fellow students from different cultures and become familiar with the University and its Kigali environment. The week culminated in a strong sense of belonging as students officially began their journey as members of the MKU community. At Mount Kigali University, orientation is more than a welcome, it is the beginning of a transformational journey where students are empowered to learn, innovate, connect and prepare for a brighter tomorrow.
