Prof. Simon Gicharu Hosts Kenyan Community in Rwanda at Kigali Paramount Hotel

The Founder and Chairman of Mount Kigali University, Prof. Simon Gicharu, hosted members of the University staff and the Association of Kenyans in Rwanda (AKR) for a dinner at Kigali Paramount Hotel, bringing together members of the Kenyan community and representatives of the Kenyan High Commission in Rwanda for an evening of fellowship, networking and reflection.

Representing the High Commissioner, Mr. Nasser Okoth, Minister Counsellor, attended the dinner accompanied by members of staff from the Embassy of Kenya in Rwanda. The Association of Kenyans in Rwanda was represented by its Chairman, Mr. Wycliffe Odhiambo.

The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen the bonds among Kenyans living and working in Rwanda while celebrating the spirit of community, collaboration and mutual support. In his remarks, the Chairman of AKR, Mr. Wycliffe Odhiambo, expressed appreciation to the Kenyan High Commission for its continued support to the Kenyan community in Rwanda. He underscored the importance of maintaining strong relationships and working together to advance the welfare and interests of Kenyans in Rwanda.

Speaking on behalf of the High Commissioner, Mr. Nasser Okoth encouraged Kenyans to continue working hard, supporting one another and contributing positively to the communities in which they live and work.

Prof. Simon Gicharu expressed his pleasure at hosting the Kenyan community, noting the importance of creating spaces that bring people together, strengthen relationships and foster collaboration. He also shared insights into the Mount Kigali University ecosystem, highlighting the University’s broader network of institutions and facilities that support education, hospitality, healthcare, media and student development. The engagement provided an opportunity for members of the Kenyan community to appreciate the University’s growing role within Rwanda’s education and wider socio-economic landscape.
