The Founder and Chairman of Mount Kigali University, Prof. Simon Gicharu, has reaffirmed his strong commitment to identifying, nurturing and supporting talent among staff and students, emphasising the importance of creating opportunities for individuals to transform their knowledge, skills and creativity into meaningful impact.

During an engagement held at Royal FM, Prof. Gicharu encouraged staff to embrace research, writing, publishing and knowledge sharing, noting the importance of creating an environment where talent can be recognised, developed and given an opportunity to flourish. Demonstrating this commitment, the Founder and Chairman donated books authored by Dr. Phelista Wangui, a member of staff, in recognition of her contribution to academic writing and knowledge creation.

Prof. Gicharu also shared his personal passion for writing, revealing that he is currently working on a book that will be launched soon. His own journey into authorship reflects his belief that knowledge should not only be acquired, but also documented, shared and preserved for the benefit of future generations.
His message was clear: talent must be recognised, supported and given the space to grow. At MKU, this commitment is reflected in the University’s efforts to create an environment where staff and students are encouraged to discover their talents, develop their capabilities, share their knowledge and create lasting impact.

Through his leadership and personal example, Prof. Gicharu continues to champion a culture of talent development, intellectual curiosity, knowledge creation and lifelong learning, inspiring the MKU community to turn ideas and abilities into meaningful contributions to society.
